- HR Starting at UTS Guide
An online week-by-week walkthrough from Human Resources (HR). This includes how to set up your staff card, wifi access, travel expenses etc. HR also run offers an orientation to UTS for all new UTS staff members four times each year. Academic resources and systems: A list of key resources and systems to help you in your day-to-day teaching - be it administrative, teaching, technological or student support - as well as their key contacts should you need help.
- Workshop program for new academics
Institute for Interactive Media and Learning (IML) offers a workshop program for all new academic staff, run twice annually in February and July i.e. just before the start of either of the main UTS sessions. The program supports academics to develop the understanding and confidence to teach subjects aligned with learning.futures - UTS's university-wide approach to blended learning. With sessions on 'active and collaborative learning', 'assessment and feedback', its aims to upskill and support you.
- UTS Development Program for New Academics
In the first two years of your appointment as a lecturer or associate lecturer, you're expected to participate in the UTS Development Program for New Academic Staff. You'll normally receive a 25% reduction in your teaching load for the first two years of your appointment (based on your Faculty’s workload policy) to help you complete this. The program supports your learning and development as an academic at UTS and intends to complement and support your normal academic work. You'll work with your academic supervisor, identified in your letter of offer of employment, to negotiate your overall program. If your appointment is at less than .7 fractional or you are appointed at senior lecture or above, you may still be able to participate.
