Our team-based approach ensures a personalised and easy-to-access service for our research partners.
Our Research Engagement team and our researchers will work with you to develop a project outline targeted at helping you achieve the outcomes you're looking for. The Research Engagement team will provide support throughout the process and assist with the development of a budget, negotiate the terms and execute the agreement, and ensure UTS policies are upheld.
Fully costed research
UTS adheres to the principles of competitive neutrality for fully costed contract research projects. UTS contract research projects are quoted to include direct project costs (such as salaries, materials etc) plus any additional indirect costs that a private sector provider of similar services would face.
Indirect costs may be charged for services such as accessing university research equipment and facilities, administrative support costs and the cost of supervising students. UTS will also charge an infrastructure cost, which is based on the type of project undertaken.
Standard agreements
UTS has a series of standard research agreements as a starting point for streamlined negotiations. We are also willing to negotiate on partner agreements. We are committed to developing and executing agreements for research projects in a timely and efficient manner.
IP management at UTS
UTS has a flexible and pragmatic approach to ownership and use of intellectual property generated from our research, and as a member of the ATN group of universities we support the ATN IP Principles.
UTS is committed to delivering impact from our research and in collaborating with our industry partners to develop new products, services and solutions that will solve real world problems. Our approach to IP management is transparent and recognises the commercial imperatives of providing access to, or ownership of IP to meet the needs of our industry partners.
