Getting to the fair
The UTS campus is located very close to Central Station. The fair itself is located on Level 4 and Level 5 of the Tower Building (CB01). If you have a number of boxes or equipment with you, you must enter through our loading dock (as outlined in the section Stop and Drop at our Loading Dock). Otherwise, please enter the Tower using the Broadway entrance (please note when walking into the UTS Tower Building from Broadway you will enter on Level 4).
Engineering, IT & Construction Fair, please arrived by 9.00am for setting up.
Internship & Graduate Careers Fair, please arrive by 1.00pm for setting up (if you are also attending the Engineering, IT & Construction Fair your booth will not require re-setting up).
Due to space restrictions at our central location, we are unable to provide reserved parking for the Fair. However, there are two car parks that are convenient to the university, located within easy walking distance to the Broadway Campus.
Stop and Drop at our Loading Dock
Due to security requirements and current building operations, you are unable to ‘stop and drop’ off equipment at the front of the UTS Tower Building.
Instead, we request that you please arrive and unload equipment in the UTS Loading Dock, located on Thomas St. UTS Careers staff & student helpers will be available to assist you at the loading dock from 9 am. Make sure your equipment is clearly labelled with your company name so that it can be quickly identified and not confused with other exhibitors’ equipment. Please note: You are allowed a maximum of 20 minutes in the loading dock, and fines may apply for vehicles that stay any longer than 20 minutes.
Delivery Dates: Deliveries of your collateral and equipment can be accepted between 9.00am-5.00pm July 16, and 8.00am-9.30am July 17.
Consignment Label: Boxes/equipment should be clearly labelled as shown below:
Company (your company name) UTS Spring Careers Fair, Level 4, Tower Building University of Technology, Sydney 15 Broadway, ULTIMO 2007
Boxes/equipment should be clearly labelled with the exhibitor name, return address and number of items. If you are unable to arrange to pick up on Wednesday, the ONLY other option is to arrange a courier to pick up the equipment between 9:00 am – 12:00 pm on Thursday 18 July.
Couriers must also enter the UTS loading dock on Thomas St for pick up.
Couriers should be told to see UTS Security (Tower Building, Level 4 – the right-hand side of the foyer on entry from Broadway) if they need assistance on arrival. *Please note: UTS will not be able to store any leftover equipment/merchandise/booklets or anything else that is left by employers. You are required to take all employer-material with them. Any materials still onsite beyond Thursday 18 July will be thrown out unless you have made alternate arrangements with UTS Careers beforehand.
The booth consists of a plastic back wall 3 m wide X 2.4 m high, with professional signage provided, open-top:
Booth: 1 table, 1 tablecloth, 2 chairs, 1 light, access to UTS wifi, the power to your booth (230v single phase, one outlet)
Food & Beverage: A delicious complimentary lunch will be available for all exhibitors between the two fairs.
Marketing: Inclusion in both the student registration page and in the Careers Fair map, detailing employers present and where to find them on the day. Students will know that you are there, and will be ready to find and meet you.
Please note: In fairness to all exhibitors in the busy exhibition space, each exhibitor is entitled to a maximum of 4 representatives per booth (at any one time).
How to set up your booth
Each booth consists of a plastic back wall 3 m wide X 2.4 m high, with professional signage provided. You will also have a 2m trestle table, black tablecloth, power and two chairs. The image below shows how you can organise your displays within the allocated booth size, and how students will pass and begin to interact with your staff. Please note, booth position and location are subject to change.
We ask that the following guidelines be observed when planning your booth and activation:
Size of the display: Please keep the display within the size of the stand. Your staff can stand in front of, behind, and around the booth to engage with students. Please avoid items or displays crowding the space around the booth to the point that other exhibitors are left with less visibility. This means that pull-up banners and other displays need to be carefully positioned either behind the table, near, or on the table with this in mind. Also, the booth has an open top, should your banners be taller than average height.
Use of monitors and devices: Power to your booth will mean you are able to connect to 230v (single phase), for desktops or monitors, lighting, etc. We ask that no loud music or overly complex displays requiring more than 30-60 mins set-up time are planned. Also, please bring a power board if you will need to plug in more than one device.
Posters and signage: Please only use blue tac on the walls of your display. We will provide this if you forget to bring some on the day. Each booth will have the organisation name displayed clearly, and the colour code indicating the types of students you have indicated that you would like to meet.
Distributing marketing material: Branding and merchandise such as pamphlets and giveaways can be effective. Also, keep in mind that many exhibitors will be giving things away, and students may have a lot of material to sort through. UTS encourages responsible use of printed material and single-use items. We do not have extra storage facilities to keep branded material post-event, so please take this with you when you pack down your display.
Giving away food: We are not able to facilitate or allow food production, handling or giveaways as part of the exhibitor stands. If you wanted to distribute sealed packets such as chocolate, lollies and similar items, please ensure they are in-date and packaged appropriately.
Arriving on time: Displays must be ready to welcome students between the opening times of 10.00am and 12.00pm for the Engineering, IT & Construction Fair and 2.00pm - 4.00pm for the Internship and Graduate Careers Fair. Please plan adequate time to arrive at the University by 9.00am or 1.00pm (or park in the nearby parking stations) to unpack, set up your display and break for lunch and a coffee before the fair commences. Our team will be on hand to assist on the day.
Need help? We'd love to help you with any questions you might have. Either browse the FAQ section of this page below or contact us during business hours on +61 2 9514 1471.
A delicious lunch will be provided for all exhibitors from 12.00pm - 1.30pm.
Coffee will be served from 9am for the entirety of both fairs in the Balcony Room.
Lunch will be served in the Balcony Room (in front of the Great Hall), UTS Tower Building, Level 5. UTS Careers staff will be more than happy to help guide you there.
If you have any dietary requirements please let UTS Careers know by Friday 12th July
Promoting your business to students
Your registration also includes a mention of your business in the student registration page, and inclusion in the Careers Fair map, detailing the employers present and where to find them on the day. Students will know that you are there, and will be ready to find and meet you.
Connect with students now
Get to know our students prior to the July Fairs with the Professional Mentoring Program.
The Professional Mentoring Program is a university-wide, online community for flash mentoring between volunteer mentors (professionals and alumni) and mentees (UTS students and recent graduates).
The informal nature of the platform allows mentees to connect with mentors based on similar interests, aspirations, and affiliations (with no long term commitment required).
What type of students will I meet, and how will I know what they are interested in?
The UTS Engineering IT & Construction Fair is targeted at penultimate and final year students and is also open all undergraduate and postgraduate, local and international students. Each employer selects the types of students they wish to target (by year level and course area) in the registration process. Students are all given colour coded badges when they arrive so that employers can see who corresponds to their desired candidates, and a map of the booths, to easily find these employers. Additionally, each employer booth is coded with the students with whom they would like to meet so that the process is further streamlined. We will also have Careers Ambassadors, who are students working on the event, to assist you where needed.
What are students' internship requirements?
Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice - Require 6 months (in 2nd and 4th year).
Engineering Undergraduate and Masters Students - Require 12 weeks
Diploma in IT Professional Practice students - Require 9-12 months placement
I have an accessibility requirement, who do I contact?
What do I need to know when I set up my display?
Please see the section above detailing how to set up your booth. If you have further questions, just ask!
Can I advertise jobs as part of the Careers Fair?
Yes! To maximise the impact of your on-campus presence, we highly encourage making use of the UTS CareerHub - our FREE online jobs platform - to advertise graduate programs, internships, vacation work, volunteering opportunities, and all other student relevant job opportunities.
I have specific dietary requirements, will these be catered for at the free lunch?
We will try our best to cater to your dietary needs. If you have any dietary requirements please let UTS Careers know by Friday 12th July.
I want to arrange a courier to deliver something. Is this ok?
Please see the above section titled 'Stop and drop at the loading dock', and 'Couriers' for full details.
I am going to take a taxi to the event; where should I ask to be dropped off?
If you are bringing supplies, the best drop-off point is the loading dock, which is through a boom-gate driveway, accessible via Thomas St, near Jones St (see map). Ask your driver to proceed down the ramp, and inform the security staff that you are dropping off. Take the elevators to levels 4 or 5, where the Careers Fair will be hosted. If you are simply being dropped off, anywhere that is safe around the University tower building (Building 1, 15 Broadway, Ultimo) is appropriate. Again, we recommend arriving at 9.00am to set up.
What if I need help on the day?
If you are lost or need help with anything on the day, all of our UTS Careers staff members and student helpers will be wearing black UTS Careers T-shirts, with 'Ask Me' printed on the back. Grab one of us and we’d be happy to help you! You can also call the UTS Careers office on +61 2 9514 1471 during business hours, or email email@example.com
