Perfectly Matching Community with Students
Perfect Match, one of Shopfront’s key volunteer engagement events, has now had four successful events across three years! This signature event is a speed-networking event that exposes students to a range of community organisations by allowing them to rotate through up to 12 presentations about different volunteering opportunities.
In 2015, the UTS Careers and UTS Shopfront team produced a video to promote and document the event, check it out here.
The organisations engaging with students offer a range of volunteering opportunities, allowing all students to find something they are passionate about and that works for their schedule. Opportunities range from internships and ongoing volunteering to helping at one off events. At the end of the event students fill out a scorecard about the organisations, indicating which they’d like to be ‘matched’ with so they can volunteer with them in the future. These ‘matches’ allow community organisations to leave the event with a list of students who are passionate about their cause and eager to volunteer their time.
Perfect Match is run in collaboration with UTS: Careers. Since 2013, it has been held in August to celebrate National Student Volunteer Week. 2015 was the first year the event was held twice, with an additional event in May to celebrate National Volunteer Week.
