Management Consulting students meet Dr Robert Bishop
In Autumn Session 2018, Management Consulting students from the UTS Business School had the opportunity to present to distinguished academic Dr Robert Bishop.
Dr Bishop is the President and Founder of the International Centre for Earth Simulation (ICES), and has spent 40 years in the technical, engineering and scientific computing business working on a number of global initiatives, including projects with NASA.
The presentation to Dr Bishop was part of the students’ coursework project where they worked on a Market Development Plan for the International Centre for Earth Simulation (iCREST), the education arm of ICES.
iCREST is an independent, non-political and non-commercial organisation that was founded in 2010 to promote science literacy and global education in earth sustainability.
The Market Development Plan created by the students consisted of three parts, each designed with the knowledge that the initiative will initially involve high school age youth in the US. These included:
- A scan of the commercial/educational environment in the US for sustainability literacy education that leverages iCREST’s strengths.
- Preliminary research on educational resources in the US for high school students that focus on Earth sustainability.
- Identification and documentation of the initiative of interest most likely relevant to the iCREST initiative.
Following the presentation, Dr Bishop spoke with the students, discussing everything from sustainability and presentation skills, to the operations of the Swiss government.
