Employer of choice for gender equality
UTS is a Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) employer of choice, and has received the citation every year since the original EOWA Employer of Choice for Women commenced in 2002. The citation recognises that UTS is actively committed to achieving gender equality in the workplace.
As part of setting the benchmark in best practice, the Agency recognised UTS's Research Equity Initiative as a leader in supporting academics and researchers with carer responsibilities and promoting gender equity in research.
Athena SWAN
UTS signed up for the SAGE Athena SWAN pilot in 2015. In 2018, UTS along with fourteen other institutions became the first Athena SWAN Bronze Award accredited organisations in Australia.
Participating in the Athena SWAN process has enabled UTS to build upon our ongoing work to further promote gender equity for inclusive teaching and learning culture, through a whole of university approach. We’re pleased to be part of a whole of sector program to improve gender equity and diversity in STEMM research, teaching and workforce culture.
