Year 11 Workshops and Mentoring
Year 11 Workshops
Throughout Year 11, take part in further on-campus experiences, through a combination of one day ‘hands-on’ faculty-based and transdisciplinary workshops. Continuing on from Winter School, you will work alongside UTS academics, student mentors and staff to increase your confidence within the university environment.
The projects relate to your school curriculum, so you will also build skills useful to your HSC studies - and life beyond.
Faculty workshop 1: 26 September 2023 (UTS Campus)
Students attend a faculty-based workshop in an area of interest and complete projects that will contribute to their graduation portfolio and enhance their skills across a number of areas. Day 1 of 2.
Faculty workshop 2: 27 September 2023 (UTS Campus)
This is the second day of the faculty-based workshop. Here, students continue their work from the prior workshop and continue to enhance their skills across a number of areas. Day 2 of 2.

Hackathon: 9 November 2023 (UTS Campus)
UTS Careers host an online Hackathon challenge. Students will work in teams, utilising skills learned through Winter School and the workshops, to find solutions to real world problems.
Transdisciplinary workshop: TBC (online)
Hosted on Canvas, 'Connected Forces' is a transdisciplinary module which encourages students to appreciate how connection, collaboration, communication and curiosity help us to share discoveries and feelings about being human in a viralscape. Students are introduced to Floric Antennae 1, an interactive transdisciplinary art installation by Joyce Hinterding, owned by UTS ART, which illustrates the intersection between science, technology, maths and creative art.
The workshop is to be completed online. Email uatuni@uts.edu.au for details.
Year 11 Mentoring
In Year 11 we run two sessions of mentoring in Term 3 alongside the workshops. Mentoring is delivered by our UTS Student Ambassadors, who will visit your school and meet with all U@Uni Academy students to check in and discuss your experience in the program. They will help guide you in goal setting and study skills, and can answer your questions about university.
Contact your school to find out exactly when your sessions are planned.
Term 3 block (Year 11) - 31 July – 15 September 2023
Remember, attending at least one of the two Year 11 mentoring sessions is a requirement to successfully graduate from the U@Uni Academy and obtain your offer to enrol in a course at UTS after you graduate high school
