UTS Startups Awards
The UTS Startups Awards is an annual program to recognise the best startups from within the UTS entrepreneurial ecosystem, showcasing talented founders and impactful student-led startups. The third annual UTS Startups Awards will be held on Thursday 10 September 2020 in the UTS Great Hall and live-streamed to a global digital audience.
KWM #breakinglaw Hackathon
The #breakinglaw Hackathon is a competition where multidisciplinary teams of students from across UTS and KWM employees develop innovative technology driven solutions to legal problems. Teams will be asked to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges, with the top three teams eligible for cash prizes totalling $15,000. UTS academics and lawyers from KWM will assist you in formulating new and innovative ways to solve real-life problems. Using technology, problem themes may include the 21st century digital age, remote working, online personal data and protecting creative work.
Centering around open data published by the government, this annual hackathon is held simultaneously in multiple locations with UTS hosting the Sydney spot. GovHack is open to everyone and encourages using the published data to think outside the box.
Hult Prize at UTS
The Hult Prize is a startup accelerator for impact entrepreneurship which brings together the brightest college and university students from around the globe to solve the world’s most pressing issues, through pitching ideas and launching companies. It’s the biggest and most prestigious startup event in the world, and awards millions of dollars in investment capital to young budding entrepreneurs, including a grand prize of USD1Million.

A three day entrepreneurial weekend for startups with one current UTS staff or student as a co-founder. From Friday night at 6pm you'll have networking with industry professionals and your first pitch. Saturday will be taking your business to the next level, attend masterclasses, work with mentors and hear from industry professionals to finalise your business for the final pitch. On Sunday, work with tech gurus, marketing professionals and successful entrepreneurs to perfect your afternoon presentation and pitch. Teams will be required to pitch three times throughout the weekend. The third pitch will be on Sunday afternoon where a panel of experts and investors will award the prizes to the most scalable and viable business concepts.
Have a startup? Join MBA Entrepreneurship students and pitch for a chance to win up to $7,500! UTS Venture Day is an opportunity to meet MBAe students and a selected number of other UTS student startup founders, hear them pitch their business idea and mingle with peers. MBAe students prepare for UTS Venture Day as part of their capstone subject Venture Planning and Pitching. Students pitch every year in mid February, with over 200 people attending the event held at the UTS Business School.
Applicants will need to submit a video link of a 5-minute business pitch. The submission web page will be available in late 2018. Selected participants will win a place at UTS Venture Day and will be invited to present their startup on Friday 15th February, 2019.
IBISWorld 3P Innovation Competition
The IBISWorld 3P Innovation Competition is an annual contest for UTS undergraduate and postgraduate students. The competition gives students the chance to explore creative and innovative business ideas whilst being mentored by business professionals.
The challenge requires students to develop a new, innovative product/idea or service associated with the 3P (People, Planet, Profit). The teams are required to develop their ideas into a viable business case, submitting a LEAN CANVAS for judging. The top six canvas will be selected to pitch to a panel of experts for final judging.

& Legal Entrepreneur Scholarship
The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage academic excellence and foster the entrepreneurial skills of UTS Law students, providing them the opportunity to gain insight into the establishment of a new business and the day-to-day operation of the legal profession.The scholarship offers Law students the opportunity to receive a cash grant to support their studies, as well as paid work placement and entrepreneurship mentoring with & Legal.
