Classes from February 2020
This cutting-edge large collaborative classroom is a world-first design that supports active and collaborative learning and teaching at scale.
Designed in consultation with academics, academics have a space that supports engaging and interactive learning experiences for large groups of students. With no obvious ‘front’ of the room, this is a mindful decision to ‘design-out’ lecture style teaching.
This room seats up to 350 students at a time, with flexible group tables and multiple presenter points allowing large classes to break into smaller zones. By breaking classes into smaller zones where students can share ideas and collaborate on the given tasks, we make ‘large classes feel small.’ Academics can also easily move between the zones to engage directly with students.
Screens are located around the room and can be synced to show the same content classroom-wide, split for group work or show a feed from a student’s device. Students can also feed-in to an all-class presentation via their local presenter point and built-in cameras offer a view of presentations across different zones.
A second 350-seat large collaborative classroom is located on level 6 and a 198-seat collaborative classroom is on level 7. Classes will be held in all three rooms from Autumn session 2020.
