UTS’s drive towards a more sustainable campus is paying off, with the university highly commended in the prestigious 2018 Green Globe Public Sector Leadership Award for Sustainability.
The award recognises public sector organisations that have successfully integrated environmental management and sustainable practices into their planning, operations, product or service delivery.
UTS was acknowledged for targeting 30% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2020/21, reducing water and energy consumption, and diverting 89% of operational waste from landfill. The university’s 6-star Green Star Vicki Sara Building and commitment to a minimum of 5-star Green Star ratings on all new buildings were also applauded.
