Work poised to start on Chancellery’s first major makeover in two decades
May 2016
With the senior executive and Chancellery staff temporarily relocated on level 4, Building 3 (Bon Marche), the scene is set for the UTS Chancellery’s first major refurbishment in more than 20 years.
Part of the greater Tower upgrade, the Chancellery refurbishment will deliver facilities that reflect its use as a venue, in the heart of the campus, for many external engagement events as well as meeting space for visiting dignitaries and other important guests.
The project will also involve work to the Building 1 facade facing Alumni Green and include essential, and overdue, infrastructure repairs.
The decision to refurbish follows extensive consultation and consideration of options including permanently relocating the Chancellery. Find out more about the refurbishment.
With the confirmation of the head contractor expected any day, work is anticipated to begin by late May and continue until late 2016.

What to expect
In the latter half of May, those in the vicinity of the space on level 4 of the Tower, as well as Alumni Green users, will notice signs of activity around the site.
Those in close proximity to the site may experience low-level construction noise during the works. However the contractor will make every effort to minimise the impact of the works, including scheduling particularly noisy works after hours. Please take possible noise impacts into consideration if planning an event or a meeting in the level 4 lobby area outside the Chancellery space.
Thanks for your cooperation while we complete this important project.
Upcoming milestones
- Construction commences – late May 2016
