Studying the Master of Information Technology gave me the opportunity to change my career direction...
Studying in Australia was great. I fell in love with Sydney and the country so much that I am still here. I learnt that UTS not only offers top level education, but a whole range of opportunities. It is a place where you will get as far as you are willing to take yourself. I was part of BUILD and that was amazing, met different cultures and just had a great learning experience.
I did a degree in Organisational Psychology but due to my SAP skills I started working on a project for Hewlett Packard doing SAP support for Europe, Middle East and Asia. After a couple of years I started to get into the nitty gritty of Information Technology (IT), using databases and integration with other applications. So I thought it was time to learn the basics of IT. Studying the Master of Information Technology not only gave me this opportunity, but changed my career direction.
I am currently a software tester for ThoughtWorks, which is an agile software development company. I am a consultant, which means that we get brought in to companies to solve specific business problems. I love working in IT as it is constantly evolving and no two problems are ever the same. I am learning all the time and also have a lot of fun!
In 5-10 years I want to still be in the testing community but in a more practice lead role. I want to be contributing to the testing community in Australia and world-wide.
