What happens inside the classroom is one thing. What happens beyond it is up to you. Make the most of your time at UTS with a wealth of opportunities that go beyond your formal degree.
Go one step further
One qualification is great – but don’t stop there. No matter what you study, adding a UTS diploma to your degree will give you an edge. With a Diploma in Languages, you can say bonjour to a foreign language qualification. As well as learning another tongue, you’ll gain an international perspective on the society and culture of another country. Better yet, you’ll be ready for truly globalised work opportunities after graduation.
Aspiring entrepreneur? With the Diploma in Innovation, you’ll take a transdisciplinary approach to complex systems thinking. Engage with open, complex and networked problems; create value in problem solving and inquiry; and gain an innovation mindset in preparation for the careers – and challenges – of tomorrow.
We know that experience counts – and we want to make sure that you know too. At UTS we encourage all our students to undertake an internship, whether their degree requires one or not. And we’ve got the connections to get you in the door: our specialised faculty teams will find the right placement for you. Once you’re in, you can build your networks, gain real-world experience, and get a birdseye perspective on life in your chosen career. We’ve also got endless extracurricular programs for you to take advantage of.
Expand your horizons
It’s a big world out there. At UTS, you can make the world part of your uni experience. In fact, more than 25 per cent of our students spend time overseas as part their UTS degrees. The opportunities are endless: combine your degree with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and spend a year in another country, or sign up for a session (or two!) as an international exchange student.
Looking for something short and sweet? The UTS BUiLD program offers short-term leadership experiences in a huge range of locations, or you can pick an elective that includes an overseas prac placement.
It’s who you know
It’s what you know and who you know that’ll set the course for your future career. That’s why we’ve made sure industry connections are always close at hand. Hands-on coursework means you’ll probably present to an industry partner at least once during your studies, and lots of your in-class activities will be focused on solving real industry problems.
Beyond the classroom, Industry presentations, careers fairs and networking events are just some of opportunities we’ve built into your degree. And our designated industry spaces – think start-up and business incubation environments emerging companies – means you’ll have ongoing access to leaders in your field – without having to leave the campus.
Scholarships that sweeten the deal
We get it. University study doesn’t come cheap. That’s why we offer more than 1000 scholarships every year. They’ve been designed to support students like you, and to recognise the diverse needs of the UTS community. We provide funding for academic and sporting excellence, financial support for students in need, and scholarships for students from diverse – and underrepresented – backgrounds.
Use our search tool to find a scholarship that’s right for you. Missed out? Check out our faculty prizes, which are awarded to top students in various subjects and degrees.
