Creative potential? Passion for tech? Work at the intersection of technical, entrepreneurial and creative practice where start-up and innovation culture reside.
Here's what it's all about
The Bachelor of Technology and Innovation (BTi) is a technology degree unlike any other. It responds to the emergence of systems, platforms, sectors and services that are the result of rapid technological change, and that are shaping a new world of work where the boundaries remain undefined. As a BTi student, you’ll learn to combine expertise in technology with an innovation mindset, preparing you for a variety of creative, management and technology roles.
The BTi course content is intricately entwined – all your subjects are connected to each other, so you’ll take what you learn in one class and apply it in another. In the first half of the degree, you’ll complete a series of subjects across three core streams – Technology Labs; Creative Practice, Methods and Enquiry; and Complex Challenges. These have been designed to help you build your technological capabilities; reflect on technology, innovation and your own potential for impact; and embrace collaboration and co-creation as key to effective teamwork.
In the second half of the course, you’ll pursue real-world digital practice through live projects, professional experience placements and internships with carefully selected industry partners. You’ll also have the chance to choose a series of complementary electives that will flesh out the skills you need for your desired career. The result? You’ll emerge with the ability to think critically and creatively; to frame, model and respond to complex problems; to collect, analyse and visualise data; to make technological decisions that respect humanity, ethics and culture; and become a persuasive and articulate advocate for your own ideas.
