For 2020, UTS is launching a range of highly flexible postgraduate degrees which allow students to bring a challenge to us and ‘stack’ curriculum, with our advice, to address that challenge.
Where in a standard University degree an academic defines the curriculum (ie. subject by subject that you must study to succeed) a flexible, “stackable” degree turns the degree choice on its head and puts it in the hands of the student in partnership with UTS academics. For these degrees the student comes to us with a challenge in their professional practice, a need to address a technological disruption in their workplace, or a global problem they wish to address – and picks (or ‘stacks’) the curriculum, flexibly, as needed.
A critical component is that the student and UTS academics will work together on addressing the problem through core studios. The core to the new flexible degrees, the challenge-focused and practice-based approach of studios, provide a highly distinctive ‘place’ to make your learning work. Distinctive to UTS, around the studios is a new concierge service to help you pick from a very wide range of UTS subjects to fit your needs. In the Master of Professional Practice, you will take your profession to the next level. In the Master of Technology, you will grasp the new technologies that are changing your world – tuned to your career. And there’s even a new shape ‘transdisciplinary’ stacked degree: Master of Creative Intelligence and Strategic Innovation.
For all these degrees, your challenge is what you bring to UTS Studios and experts; the Learning Concierge will help you to tailor you degree to fit you: selecting subjects to address your challenge and the new you.
Flexibility will be the key to your future.
