The opportunity to stretch and grow with a year on exchange is quite possibly the most meaningful thing I have ever experienced. I spent a year studying at a French university in Québec, meanwhile engaging with the local community by providing care support to a family with a child with a disability. Learning a language and appreciating a new culture with the chance to be a local are easily the best things I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing!
The benefits of studying at UTS are already apparent. Employees respect my degree as they recognise the challenges we face ensuring we meet UTS’ high academic standards. The practical parts of the course, particularly group work, have also challenged me to work around difficulties and I appreciate that I now have a whole new set of skills to deal with these situations!
I’m currently working at a corporate advisory firm in Sydney CBD as the sole marketing assistant. I’ve been able to implement the skills I developed during my degree in regards to project planning, navigating corporate pitfalls, and ensuring top-notch communications. I’ve successfully managed the implementation of an enterprise management CRM as well as organising events, and distributing their electronic newsletter.
My time at UTS made me question my ethics and when I was finished questioning them I realised I could still stand by them, keep an open mind, and be significantly more informed, all at once!
