My name is Odai Al-ma'aitah, and I am originally from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
I wanted to study Nursing because I’ve always been interested in the healthcare profession. I finished the Bachelor of Nursing at Mutah University (Jordan) and I studied Master of Advanced Nursing at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS).
I originally chose to attend UTS because of its high rank and great reputation in Australia and globally; it is known as a leader in nursing education and research. UTS has become one of the best in Australia; it has top professors and the campus is really close to the city centre and it is so easy to get from one place to another.
As an international student, I expected it to be a little bit awkward because I am coming into a foreign country and I do not know anyone. However, when I came here, I got to meet new people that are friendly and the lecturers are so kind and very supportive, which is a big plus.
Also, there are a lot of really good student support services on campus and one of these support services is HELPS. UTS HELPS provides academic support and they run daily workshops that are open to all UTS students, which enhances student learning experiences by providing individual and group support in a friendly and respectful environment.
My degree has definitely taken me on new paths and the education at UTS has given me a solid foundation and helped me to have the confidence to make a difference. I’m so glad I made the decision to study at UTS.
