What you will study

The Master of Public Health comprises 12 online subjects (72 credit points (CP) in total) - eight core subjects and four electives. You have the option to follow one of the listed specialisation pathways, or you may choose to study a general pathway with no major, and select four additional electives to comprise the total amount of credit points required for this course.

You also have the option to study the Graduate Certificate in Public Health  or the Graduate Diploma in Public Health, separately. 

The UTS Online Graduate Certificate in Public Health consists of four subjects (24 CP), and offers specialisation pathways in Communicable Disease  or Health Analytics.

Students undertaking the masters course must complete all core study periods and select from four additional electives, with consideration of credit points. Alternatively, complete all eight core study periods to achieve 48 credit points and graduate with a Graduate Diploma in Public Health.

Data Analytics (major)

This major provides you with critical knowledge that public health practitioners and health researchers need concerning epidemiology, biostatistics, qualitative research and visual analytics. Studying these electives will provide you with critical skills to effectively lead, evaluate and improve global health systems and services.

Leadership (sub-major)

Focussed on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of health and social care by innovating and driving change, this sub-major is for those who want to develop the knowledge and skills required to lead individual staff, teams, services and/or systems.

The UTS Master of Health Services Management prepares leaders in health and social care who want to drive change and create safer, higher value and more equitable health systems and services. 

English Language Requirement

The English proficiency requirement for local applicants with international qualifications is: Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0; or TOEFL: paper based: 550-583 overall with TWE of 4.5, Internet based: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21; or AE5: Pass; or PTE: 58-64; or CAE: 176-184.

 

Entry requirements

To gain entry into the Master of Public Health course, applicants must have completed an Australian Bachelor degree or overseas equivalent or higher.

Applicants who do not meet the above criteria, such as applicants who do not have an undergraduate degree but whom have recent relevant work experience may be considered eligible for admission in the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma. These applicants must present evidence of a capacity to undertake tertiary study via submission of a CV which may include details of completion of hospital or college certificates and professional or staff development.

Eligibility for admission does not guarantee offer of a place.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Your previous studies can be acknowledged as credit towards your online postgraduate studies, provided that it meets relevant course requirements. If you receive a UTS offer of enrolment, and you’ve undertaken previous studies at another institution, you may be eligible to apply for recognition of prior learning.
