The way we do business is changing, and UTS Business School is at the forefront of creative solutions to tomorrow's problems.
Master of Health Policy and Economics
Note
This course is only available by distance mode in Autumn session. International students are not eligible for a student visa to study this course in Australia.
The Master of Health Policy and Economics (MHPE) delivers a rich, high-quality program for those interested in the development, implementation and evaluation of health policy and health technology. The course is run by one of the world’s leading centres in health economics; the Centre for Health Economics Research and Evaluation (CHERE) based within UTS Business School. The course utilises government and industry connections to enhance the relevance of the program for student learning, enabling them to connect theory to cutting edge industry practices. Students learn the fundamental principles of health economics, quantitative techniques in economic evaluation and technology assessment, all delivered within the context of Australia’s regulatory and policy framework. The course offers students the opportunity to develop their technical skills to critically analyse health care policy and health care systems as well as develop advanced skills to examine and reflect on health system challenges. The course allows students to demonstrate their acquired skills to new situations and professional contexts to create, research, analyse and present on innovative, evidence-based, policy solutions.
The design of the MHPE recognises that the fields of health policy and economics are intertwined. This recognition enhances graduates’ abilities to understand the value (and limits) of economics in all aspects of health policy. Throughout the program, students actively engage with leading experts in the fields of health policy, health law, economics, research and evaluation. The MHPE offers students a unique, discipline-based, perspective of the Australian and international health care system that enables graduates to critically assess the need for reforms, develop policy options, integrate evidence into policy design and evaluate the efficiency end equity implications of reforms.
