The Bachelor of Arts Bachelor of Education is a practice-oriented combined degree that gets you into the classroom from your first year of study. This course integrates the latest educational theory with a comprehensive professional experience program — you’ll spend 80 days a year in a school-based placement, applying what you learn at uni in a real-world teaching context.
This course is focused on innovative teaching methods, and on exploring and contemporary issues and applications in key learning areas, such as technology-enhanced learning and learning analytics. Most subjects are delivered in blended mode, which means you’ll combine face-to-face, on-campus study with independent online learning.
Planning to major in Primary or Secondary teaching? You’ll also have a choice of sub-majors in cutting-edge specialisations, including STEM, Special Education and TESOL.

Career options include primary teaching (kindergarten to year 6) and/or secondary teaching (years 7–12) in English, Languages, Mathematics, Science, Social Science or PDHPE) in a public or private school, locally and internationally.
Recognition of prior learning
If you’ve studied one of the following qualifications, you may be eligible for recognition of prior learning:
- TAFE qualification in Children’s Services
- A diploma in Children’s Services
- Teaching and Learning subjects completed at a recognised university, or as part of a teacher education course.
Recognition of prior learning will not be granted for practical or work experience, parenting, or prior study in an unrelated course.
