UTS Business School co-delivers the Certificate of Research in Business Administration, which is the first stage of the Digital Doctorate in Business Administration (DDBA), with the Business Science Institute, SKEMA Business School and IAE Lyon. On completion of the Certificate, and successfully defending their research proposal, students continue on to their Doctorate.
The Certificate of Research in Business Administration provides a new option for MBA-qualified professionals to continue life-long learning, build expertise and create new knowledge that will enable you to play a leading role in the future of work.
Who is it for?
The DDBA is designed for experienced, practicing professionals. But more than just being ambitious professionally, the DDBA is for those who are interested in sharing their knowledge through the development of journal articles, books, conference papers and teaching.
Applicants must have:
- completed an MBA or equivalent;
- five years’ professional experience; and
- show aptitude for in-depth thinking that will result in knowledge creation through research publication.
A unique format designed for busy professionals
The first year of the Digital DBA is built around a 'digital knowledge box' containing doctoral courses of 'knowledge cores' with exclusive videos, books, articles, exchange forums, quizzes and more. Participants complete 11 courses remotely, with each course requiring around 60 hours of learning, assessed online by a combination of multiple choice and longer form thoughtful, pondering questions. Pathway to the DDBA
To complete the Certificate of Research in Business Administration you need to complete a Research Proposal, and defend this as part of International Week, in person, in Luxembourg in September.
Your research proposal should incorporate an analysis of existing research and knowledge in your chosen field, the gap that your research will fill, and the impact of this research on thinking and practice. The research proposal is quite detailed, and should represent approximately 30 hours of preparation.
Once you have completed the proposal, you will attend International Week, at your expense, in Luxembourg, where you will meet your fellow students and defend your proposal. If successful, you may continue onto the Digital Doctorate in Business Administration.
Note: The awarding of the Digital Doctorate in Business Administration is from SKEMA Business School, The Business Science Institute and IAE Lyon, although doctoral candidates may continue to have their written dissertation supervised by UTS Business School academics.
Certificate of Research in Business Administration students and Doctoral candidates will be invited to attend non-compulsory research seminars at UTS Business School in Sydney.
