Meet with one or more international students weekly to help them build their confidence through conversation. Volunteering as a buddy is a wonderful opportunity to help an international student in their transition to living in Australia. Learn about another culture, practice language exchange and make a new friend!
What is my role as a volunteer?
As a volunteer, you will be meeting with an overseas student, six times across a session, with the purpose of providing casual conversation. You are not expected to be a grammar expert or prepare anything for your meetings - just turn up and talk!
For more information about being a volunteer buddy, refer to our Volunteer Buddy Guidelines.
For more information about the UTS HELPS Buddy Program, see the Buddy Program FAQs.

What if I'm a non-UTS volunteer? (E.g. Alumni, ABC, Community Volunteers)
All non-UTS volunteers are welcome to join the program! We have received wonderful feedback from overseas students who describe non-UTS volunteers as able to provide unique insight into Aussie culture and the Australian workplace.
