Application Advice
We receive a high volume of applications for our consulting programs, making the process quite competitive. To ensure your application is successful, be sure to follow the below easy 6 steps:
Step 1: Use this easy framework to craft your answers to our motivational questions:
The strongest answers will make clear links between:
- Your motivation: Tell us about your professional interests, passions, goals, what you can offer and what you care about.
- An understanding of the program: Use your research to show you understand the role, project objectives, values and requirements.
- Practical examples of your relevant skills: Tell us about your skills and knowledge that will help you succeed in the program. Refer to work experience (part-time and professional), extra-curricular activities or your coursework.
Step 2: Demonstrate an interest in your program area
As you'll be working on a real project brief from your allocated client, we want to know that you have a genuine interest in the program topics. The key is to tell us about your specific interests that relate to the program you’re applying for as below:
- Communicate your interest in export and international trade if applying for the Global Trade Accelerator Program. Remember to include any relevant knowledge you may have for a particular international market.
- Communicate your interest in socially responsible business practices if you’re applying for the Shared Value Program.
- Communicate your interest in business continuity and growth planning in response to challenges associated with Covid-19 if you’re applying for the Business Opportunity Accelerator Program.
Step 3: Tell us about your excellent teamwork skills
You'll be acting as a business consultant alongside other UTS students so teamwork and collaboration skills are essential for a successful experience. Be sure to tell us how you've developed your team work skills to date.
Step 4: Tell us about your unique skills that you can bring to your team
A great thing about team work is the diversity of skills from different members - tell us how you can best contribute to your group. Consider your unique technical and soft skills that relate to program requirements.
Step 5: Consider your word limit
Make sure you provide us with enough detail so we understand your background. We suggest 150 to 200 words for each answer.
