The Finance Discipline Group offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in finance and quantitative finance. Postgraduate courses are offered both by research and by coursework. The Discipline Group has links with industry and academic institutions around the world, which provides our students with valuable research and exchange opportunities. We also employ visiting scholars and experienced financial market professionals to teach some of our subjects.
The main undergraduate course that the Finance Discipline Group teaches in is the Bachelor of Business in which the discipline group provides both majors, extended majors and sub-majors in finance. Our most important postgraduate coursework program is the Master of Finance and the Master of Finance (Extention). We also teach in the Master of Financial Analysis and in various MBA programs offered by the UTS Business School. The Finance Discipline Group also provides postgraduate research degrees of which the main program is the Doctor of Philosophy.
UTS has affiliation status as an undergraduate and postgraduate CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) affiliation partner by the CFA Institute. In 2008 our Bachelor of Business with a major in Finance program was the first undergraduate program recognized as an undergraduate CFA partner program in Australia. In addition, our Master of Finance has been awarded the post graduate partnership status by CFA Institute. We are also an academic partner of CAIA (Chartered Alternative Investment Analysts Association). These affiliations help us prepare students for careers in finance through coursework related to the program.
