The Finance Department in the UTS Business School starts the Spring 2020 semester with an exciting free webinar to foster the understanding of COVID-19 crisis implications for Australia’s future. On 29 July 2020 at 12.30 pm UTS Industry Professor Warren Hogan and UTS Finance Professor Harry Scheule will share their views on topics related to the economy banking and credit. We will also welcome a special financial industry guest: Justin Tyler, CFA, will provide his view on credit and capital market implications.
Industry Professor Warren Hogan will discuss:
- Likely paths for the economy.
- Outlook for the unemployment rate.
- Business conditions and interest rates.
Professor of Finance Harry Scheule will discuss:
- Loan deferrals and bank loss predictions.
- Role of IFRS 9 loan loss provisioning on eligible Tier I bank capital
- Effects of the COVID macro environment and banking on credit supply for property buyers and SME.
Justin Tyler, CFA (Director at Daintree Capital) will add his views on credit and capital market implications
Warren Hogan – Industry Professor, UTS Business School
Warren Hogan is the UTS Business School Executive-in-Residence since 2018. He appears widely in the media and writes regularly for The Australian Financial Review and The Conversation. Previous roles include Chief Economist at ANZ, Principal Advisor at the Commonwealth Treasury, Chief Economist and Head of Interest Rate Research at Credit Suisse in Australia.
Harry Scheule - Professor (Finance), UTS Business School
Harry (Harald) Scheule is Professor of Finance at the UTS Business School. He is a specialist in Banking, Credit and Liquidity Risk, Housing Finance, and Machine Learning. Harry is a strategic partner for banks and regulators in Asia, Australia, Europe and North America. He has had influence with financial institutions who have applied his work to improve their risk management practices. His award-winning research has been widely cited and published in leading journals. He currently serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Risk Model Validation.
Justin Tyler, CFA - Director, Daintree Capital
Justin Tyler is a founding partner of Daintree Capital, responsible for interest rate and currency decisions. Justin has over 16 years of experience in the industry. Prior to Daintree Capital, Justin was a Senior Investment Manager at Aberdeen. There, he specialised in Inflation and Interest Rate decisions and was a member of Aberdeen’s Risk Oversight Group.
