Your first week: tips on the best food and drinks on campus
Starting at a new university can be daunting. Navigating your way to the right classroom, meeting new people and not knowing where the best coffee is! Alicia, second year Clinical Psychology student, has you covered with tips on where to find the best food and drink on campus.
You’ve made it into the Graduate School of Health - congratulations!! Here’s where the hard work begins. I can honestly say that one of the best pieces of advice handed down to my peers and I from past students was the hot tip on where to get great food and coffee on campus! We know that long hours may be spent studying, which gives you an excuse to treat yourself...right?! So here are a few of my top tips for food, coffee and drinks, right here on campus!
If you find yourself only having a limited time for a coffee break, I highly recommend downloading a ‘queue jumping’ app such as HeyYou.
Café 10 can do no wrong, if it’s delicious Vietnamese you’re craving, this is your place. They also do other delicious lunch options...who can go past sweet potato fries?! I also hear their coffee is great, too! As the name suggests, you can find Café 10 in Building 10.
Penny Lane (found in building 11) are famous for their lunch deals. Each weekday, they offer up a delicious meal between the hours of 11am – 3pm for only $10. Think schnitzel and chips, burgers, steak, pasta and pizza! If none of these tickle your fancy, don’t fret, they also have an extensive menu for you to choose from!
Penny Lane is also very popular for the caffeine addicted. There can often be a wait so take my advice below and order using an app!
Cornerstone Cafe is a crowd favourite and is so convenient being located in Building 7. Don’t be put off by the queues (see below) at peak times! They also have a delicious selection of treats and lunch options for you to choose from!
**If you find yourself only having a limited time for a coffee break, I highly recommend downloading a ‘queue jumping’ app such as HeyYou. These make your life easy if you’re running a bit late but still need that coffee hit, and it saves you standing in line. AND they now have a new feature where you can even use your KeepCup too -everybody wins!
You may find yourself sneaking to The Loft with your colleagues after class, and rightly so! Work hard, play hard, right? Being the student bar on campus you’re always bound to find a good deal! They also have live music between 4-6pm Monday-Friday!
If you’re looking for a bit more sophisticated after class drinks now that you’re *postgrads*, I recommend heading to Bar80 (located in Building 8) where you can enjoy happy hour from 5pm! I highly recommend the nibbles here too!
