Be part of something truly groundbreaking: join the UTS FTDi partner network.
Partnering with us is not just about finding your next grad hire, it’s about being a part of a world-first award-winning approach to tertiary education; the first of its kind in Australia! You’ll be exposed to fresh, out-of-the-box thinking that comes from our students and their world-class university experience. Combined with a connection to a diverse community of knowledge and learning fuelled by innovation, you have a university partnership like nothing you’ve experienced before.
Transdisciplinarity by nature can’t exist without a strong connection to Industry, which is why our partnership network is such a vibrant and crucial part of our faculty. Our industry experts are an important part of the teaching and learning ecosystem, giving plenty of opportunities for collaboration. Below are a few ideas about how you can participate (and we’re open to new ones too):
Guest lectures / live briefs / workshops
Give a little of your time to get to know some outstanding students who you might want as your next hire. Come in and share your expertise first-hand with students in class. Share how creativity, innovation and technology has shaped your business. Work with our tutors to co-create live briefs or workshops for students or participate in one of our BCII Connect events (through the FTDi student society).
Innovation Internships
Want to meet some of UTS’ top graduate talent? Interested in bringing the practices and principles of creative intelligence and innovation to your organisation? What better way than to offer one of our students an internship. Innovation internships give FTDi students real world experience and help shape their future careers, whilst giving you insight into how their world of transdisciplinarity could transform your business.
Industry Innovation Projects
Your ‘big problems’ are wonderful opportunities for FTDi students. What complex challenge faces your industry or business? Pose this challenge to a transdisciplinary team of FTDi students, and they’ll apply the complex problem-solving skills and innovation methods learnt through their degree. The students will take the project through three phases, ‘exploration and generation’, ‘reframing and adaption’ and ‘realisation and refinement’, giving you a fresh perspective on your challenge. We look for Industry Innovation Project partners across all sectors and industries to provide students with a range of challenges to respond to and present solutions.
Mentor
Pay it forward. Be a sounding board, advisor or ‘learned friend’ to one of our students. With so many differing core degrees, passions and career options, having someone who has explored the world and can offer advice can be a game-changer for our students. Get exclusive invites to Faculty events, think tanks and workshops, and generate yourself some good karma by taking on a mentee.

We love saying thank you by sharing great news stories about industry involvement with the UTS and FTDi community, so don’t be surprised to see your name in ‘likes’ on our social media channels (if you like that kind of thing).
