UTS: Learning and Teaching Awards and Citations 2009
The UTS Learning and Teaching Awards and Citations recognise the importance and excellence of learning and teaching for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. In 2009, Citations were added as another category of recognition in specialised, innovative and positive teaching and learning impacts enhancing UTS student engagement and experience.
Each year approximately 10, UTS Learning and Teaching Citations are awarded to individuals or teams for their significant and sustained contributions to student learning. Associate Professor, Barbara Stuart was the successful recipient within the Faculty of Science to receive a 2009 UTS Citations award.
Dr Stuart’s major contributions to educational development at UTS, has been in the preparation of significant teaching materials. Over the past 10 years, as the author of four flexible- learning textbooks in the area of Chemistry, Dr Stuart has effectively provided a teaching and learning experience that helps students develop the ability to solve problems – a skill she believes “translates into many professions.”
Dr Stuart not only received positive comments from science students using her flexible learning texts at UTS but has also received encouraging peer reviews for the educational contribution of all her books.
Dr Barbara Stuart will receive the prestigious award at the May 2010 graduation ceremony at UTS.
