World Breastfeeding Week celebrated at UTS
- World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated internationally from 1-7 August each year.
Breastfeeding improves the health of babies and mothers all over the world.
Breastfeeding is the best way to provide infants with the nutrients they need. The World Health Organisation recommends exclusive breastfeeding starting within one hour after birth until a baby is six months old. Other foods should then be added while continuing to breastfeed for up to two years or beyond.
The Midwifery team at UTS are celebrating World Breastfeeding Week from 1-7 August. Together with UTS Equity and Diversity, the midwives are actively promoting breastfeeding awareness and supporting mothers at UTS to continue breastfeeding through applying for accreditation as a breastfeeding friendly workplace.
There are a number of breastfeeding rooms at UTS. These rooms are designed to support staff and students who are breastfeeding to work and study effectively on campus.
