neo_form is a research project that examines hyperbolic form through the process of knitting and seeks to understand how knitwear designers can disrupt conventional form from the perspective of shape-changing effects in knitting. It investigates creative applications of machine knitted structures to create new body concepts and forms that also move into areas of inter- and trans-disciplinary design. These forms disrupt the conventional connotations of the female body and confront contemporary fashion silhouettes by challenging the perceptions of the body through inventing unfamiliar and dislocated form. neo_form was published and exhibited at the 4th International Fashion Art Biennale in Seoul, 16–23 November 2016, hosted by The Korea Fashion and Culture Association. It was the only Australian work among a strong international field of leading fashion practitioners.
