UTS announces New Writer's $40k Fellowship-Applications open
The Copyright Agency’s Cultural Fund, in partnership with the UTS Creative Writing Program, is pleased to announce the 2019 ‘New Writer’s $40,000 Fellowship’.
It is well known that for emerging writers, completing that second or third book is extremely difficult given the financial pressures that writers face. From early March 2019, a new Australian writer will be selected nationally as the UTS Writer-In-Residence for 2019.
To qualify as 'new' the writer will have had one or two book-length works of fiction or non-fiction published with a commercial publisher since 2014.
The writer will be required to have a contract or letter of interest from a publisher for their second or third book.
The writer will be required to provide a one (1) page proposal on how the Copyright Agency-UTS New Writer's Residency would benefit their writing, along with a CV (max 3 pages).
The writer will be required to be on campus two (2) days a week during the semester to be available for consultation with Writing Students and to participate in other activities relating to the Creative Writing Program at the University of Technology Sydney.
This is a 3-year program and we will be appointing two more writers in 2020 and 2021. The successful writer(s) will be required to promote the position of Copyright Agency ‘New Writer-in-Residence’ and the UTS Writing program.
