FASS academics chosen for Google News Initiative Training
The Google News Initiative works with the news industry to help journalism thrive in the digital age.
In three areas, the Google News Initiative builds products, collaborates with news partners and organisations and develops programs which drives innovation across the news industry.
Training in the Google News Initiative means that Sue and Denby will learn the best ways to use Google tools for reporting and storytelling.
The biggest benefit of having our people doing this training is that they pass it on to UTS journalism students, who’ll be given the knowledge and skill set to use the most cutting edge digital tools currently known globally.
Monica Attard, Head of Journalism
They’ll also learn how to use online tools that refine information and analyse trends, understand how to use satellite imagery to enhance storytelling and develop insights to connect content with their audiences and how to make it more discoverable.
With the training developed to support a sustainable future for journalists, Sue and Denby will be two academics who will make sure that journalists and media organisations have the digital skills to succeed at their craft.
