40 years of 2SER - Exhibition at UTS Library
From 2 to 27 March, the '40 YEARS OF 2SER' interactive exhibition, exploring the station's four decades of broadcast, will be on display outside the new UTS Library.
Free and open to the public, the exhibition celebrates the rich and vibrant history of 2SER with a plethora of stories and events from the last four decades by using images, audio, and artefacts from 2SER’s eccentric archives. Bring headphones and listen to audio accessible via QR code on your phone or device. Pieces are also available online.
Where and when:
The exhibition is being held on Level 7, outside the entrance to the new UTS Library located within UTS Central (also known as Building 2). People can visit the exhibition during the building's opening hours (typically 8am-10pm Monday to Friday, and 10am - 6pm Saturday to Sunday) anytime between 2 and 27 March 2020.
A bit of 2SER history:
Among Sydney’s very first FM stations, broadcasting to the greater Sydney area on 107.3 FM, via digital radio and online through 2ser.com, for over 40 years 2SER has provided Sydney with specialist music, news, opinion and current affairs programs.
2SER brought this city’s unique cultural history to the ears of devoted listeners with one of the world's earliest queer radio programs; pioneering underground 90s dance music; and broadcasting news from one of Sydney’s only local and independent newsrooms.
Since the first broadcast in 1979, 2SER has worked tirelessly to bring Sydneysiders a wide variety of stories, ideas and music – and hasn’t it been a wild ride along the way! Over the past four decades, thousands of volunteers have created hundreds of programs for millions of listeners.
Find out more about 2SER’s people, guests, technical achievements, and at least some of its trouble-making past, and dig into the music scenes and social movements that 2SER helped shape and propel!
The exhibition is on from 2 to 27 March, thanks to the team at 2SER, to the Australian Centre for Public History, to Karina at the UTS Library and to co-curators Dr Liz Guiffre and Jess Klajman.
