The UTS Society of Communications (UTSoC) is a student society working to develop a community amongst communication students.
Entirely student-run, our main aims are to connect, promote and unite Communications students from every discipline with others in their degree, the rest of the university, and the greater community through a mix of social, careers and social justice events.
We are incredibly proud to have one of the largest membership bases at the university, so we love to celebrate and treat our members and fellow communicators with some of the university’s most popular (and notorious) events.
Starting off, our annual First Year Orientation Camp and Welcome Back Drinks are followed by the infamous UTSoC Hunt – we can’t reveal all the details here – but it’s a night filled with many an adventure which no one should miss! Our social calendar continues with several combined society events and finishes off with our Communications Ball, and yes, it’s totally as fancy as it sounds!
The society itself is run by a small but passionate team of students who live and breathe UTSoC, and work tirelessly throughout the year to ensure the voices of our members are heard, and to provide them with opportunities to experience their best uni life. As our outgoing president so eloquently said:
Our society is much more than a club, and our committee much more than a bunch of hard-working individuals. UTSoC is a family, and we invite anyone and everyone to join us in this wild and wonderful experience that is university.
Opportunities we offer
We host workshops and speaker panels with professionals from across the communications industry, which encourages professional development and networking as we all prepare for the inevitable responsibilities of adulthood.
Opportunities for volunteering and interacting with the community outside of university is also one of our passions at UTSoC as we host and participate in multiple social justice campaigns every year.
