Dr Meena Gopal will present a talk about 'At the Crossroads in India: Feminists assertions around sexuality'.
We would like to invite you to join us for an engaging presentation by internationally renowned scholar, Professor Meena Gopal.
Feminist politics around sexuality and gender – has been alive in India for more than 3 decades. Never has it been more intersectional that at present addressing concerns of sexual harassment in high places, judicial activism around queer and trans lives, criminalising and decriminalising the domestic realm, and so on. This presentation will address these in the context of neoliberal India's new divisive political economy. This will be followed by a Q and A discussion.

About the Guest Speaker
Dr Meena Gopal
FASS Visiting Chair in Contemporary India at the University of Sydney, and Professor, Advanced Centre for Women's Studies at Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. Her research interests are gender and labour, political economy of health, welfare and development, sexuality studies, social movements. She is also a member of the autonomous feminist collective Forum Against Oppression of Women, Bombay, and active in queer and feminist movements in India.
