Bringing together communication expertise and social insight to address contemporary challenges.
We were one of the first schools of communication in Australia, so we bring more than 30 years of teaching expertise, shaped by leaders in their fields. Today, as the School of Communication and Social Sciences, we build on that legacy with an expanded focus on the social, cultural, political and environmental challenges that define our world. We are creative, critical and future-focused. Our programs span creative production, communication and social sciences, including: screen arts, digital and social media, journalism, creative writing, animation, music and sound design, public relations and advertising, media business, social and political sciences, Indigenous studies, international studies, international relations, and sustainability and environment. We bring together established expertise with the energy and openness of a young, dynamic university. Our research asks urgent questions about how we live, communicate, create, govern and respond to change. Working across research centres and research groups, our academics bring creative, critical and applied perspectives to issues that matter locally and globally. We work with partners across culture, industry, government and civil society to create knowledge that travels beyond the university.
