Registration of UTSWeb publishers

The University will be held legally accountable for any illegal or misleading information published on the UTSWeb and as such, it is necessary to put a system in place to manage the publication of online information.

A Web Publishing Register is currently being established to record the details of all staff and other organisations associated with UTS that have been granted authority to author, approve the content of information, or publish on the UTSWeb. It is expected that the Web Publishing Register will be implemented late in 2006.

Authority to publish

Authority to publish information on the UTSWeb has been given to the Vice-Chancellor, VCMG members, deans and directors as documented at clause 5.1.1 of the Publishing on the UTSWeb Policy. These Officers are responsible for the creation and publication of information on their particular portfolios of responsibility. They can elect to assign authority to staff members in their area to author, approve the content of information, or publish information that will be made available via the UTSWeb.

Academics and faculty staff seeking approval authority to author, approve the content of information, or publish on the UTSWeb should, in the first instance, contact their faculty manager to ascertain how the faculty is managing its online information and services. Approval must be granted by the relevant dean or their appointed nominee.

Unit or division staff should contact their office manager or administrator to ascertain how online information and services are managed within their unit or division. Approval must be granted by the relevant director or their appointed nominee.
