Teaching and learning plan

The ten year vision for UTS expressed in 'Setting the Pace' (PDF 114kB 8 pages) provides a framework for the University's strategic planning, with the teaching and learning emphasis being on the provision of a professionally oriented higher education, a vibrant learning community, collaboration in the delivery of programs, and internationalisation.

Our current objectives and strategies for teaching and learning are included in the UTS Strategic Plan 2006-2009 - teaching and learning components. The strategic plan presents our strategic directions for teaching and learning, research and student experience, reflecting our integrated approach to the University's development and growth.

Our strategic approach to teaching and learning over recent years has reflected both continuity and change in emphasis and approach. For example:

  • we have shifted our focus on practice based education to a focus on the professional workplace and the development of associated skills to enable students to operate within that environment.
  • we have shifted our original focus on the development of effective mechanisms for monitoring the quality of teaching to an approach that brings together all our measures to enhance the quality of teaching and learning.
  • our technology platforms are now well established, allowing us to focus on developing the entire student environment and student experience.
