Small learning and teaching grants

Individuals and teams are invited to apply for amounts of between $2,000 and $10,000 for projects aimed at renewing student learning experiences to meet the future needs of students, improving student learning and/or improving the overall student experience of UTS.

Applications should follow the grant guidelines (PDF, 393k) and include the application cover sheet (Word doc 123k). They should be submitted to the office of Shirley Alexander, DVC and Vice-President (Teaching, Learning and Equity), by email to Anna.Neo@uts.edu.au accompanied by a signed hard copy by 10 am Thursday, December 10.

Learning Communities/ Communities of Practice in emerging technologies

Strategic learning and teaching grants 2010-2011

Transforming learning for future UTS students

Large grants of between $50,000 and $100,000 per year for two years will be available for strategic projects aimed at transforming learning for future students and implementing the UTS model of learning, consistent with the UTS Strategic Plan 2009-2018. One of the projects will be on Internationalisation of the Curriculum, and applicants for this project may focus on particular aspects of internationalisation. The other project areas will be determined on the basis of expressions of interest and strategic priorities.

Applications involve a two-stage process. The first stage is submission of a short (up to one page) expression of interest, following the EOI guidelines (PDF 119k). EOIs will be considered, then shortlisted applicants may be invited to submit a second stage application, or may be invited to collaborate with similar others and submit a joint application. EOIs will be submitted electronically to the office of Shirley Alexander, DVC and Vice-President (Teaching, Learning and Equity), by email to Anna.Neo@uts.edu.au by 10 am Thursday, December 10.

Learning and Teaching Performance Fund 2007-2009

In 2003 the Australian Government announced the Our Universities: Backing Australia's Future package of reforms. That package included provision for The Learning and Teaching Performance Fund, with the aim of rewarding higher education providers that best demonstrate excellence in learning and teaching

In 2007 approximately $82 million in funding was distributed from this fund. Universities were ranked according to seven indicators of student success, student learning outcomes and graduate satisfaction.

In 2007 UTS was ranked 6th overall in Australia and received $5.5million. This funding is being expended on a range of projects that will further enhance the quality of learning and teaching at UTS.

In 2008 $83.3 million was allocated on the same seven indicators of student success.
