Additional selection criteria - UAC applicants

For the Autumn (start of year) intake

• current school leavers who are completing their Year 12 exams at school or TAFE this year (regardless of the applicant's age) and have never been enrolled in tertiary studies, or
• non current school leavers - all other applicants.

For the Spring (mid year) intake all applicants are treated as non current school leavers and the information on this page will change to list requirements for courses open for Spring application.

Current school leavers

Entry to most courses at UTS is based on your UAI score alone. The exceptions to this are the two co-operative scholarship programs - the Bachelor of Accounting and the Bachelor of Information Technology - which have compulsory additional selection criteria.

The Faculty of Engineering also has the Multiple-Criteria Entry Scheme for current school leavers, with optional additional selection criteria to give applicants an opportunity to have bonus points added to their application.

Non current school leavers

All applicants to UTS courses are considered for a place on the basis of their academic qualifications. In addition to academic qualifications some courses have additional selection criteria. It is essential that you submit all compulsory additional requirements on time to be considered for a course.

If you are a mature age applicant, a non current school leaver who is over the age of 20, and you have no tertiary level study or secondary academic qualifications, some faculties will consider the Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT) (opens an external site) and or a Limited UAI (opens an external site). If you are applying on the basis of a STAT or Ltd UAI you must submit a compulsory Personal Statement.
