Overview

The Dean’s Merit Scholarship (Juris Doctor) has been established to award and recognise the top ten (10) performing students annually who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance in the UTS Juris Doctor program.

Who is eligible?

To be eligible for the Scholarship, an applicant must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen or the holder of Permanent Resident Visa or Global Special Humanitarian Visa; and
  • Have completed a minimum of 46 credit points of study in their Juris Doctor course at the time of Scholarship award; and
    • Students who have received Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) from another institution must complete a minimum of 24 credit points at UTS in their chosen Juris Doctor course.
    • The RPL and 24 credit points completed in their UTS Juris Doctor course must combine to equal a minimum of 46 credit points completed in the UTS Juris Doctor course.
    • The 24 credit points completed at UTS will be used to identify the student’s Weighted Average Mark (WAM)
  • Be ranked with the highest WAM in either Autumn or Spring Sessions (subject to the number of scholarships allocated) in any of the following Juris Doctor degrees at UTS: 
    1. C04236 Juris Doctor 
    2. C04320 Juris Doctor Professional Legal Practice
    3. C04364 Juris Doctor Graduate Certificate in Trade Mark Law and Practice
    4. C04250 Juris Doctor Master of Business Administration 
    5. C04363 Juris Doctor Master of Intellectual Property 
  • Students with a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) are not eligible for this scholarship. 

Selection process

The Dean’s Academic Scholarship (Juris Doctor) will be awarded to continuing students for the following awarding periods: 

  • Five (5) students for Autumn session; and
  • Five (5) students for Spring session.
