Research and Innovation Office

The Research and Innovation Office (RIO) is responsible for university contract and collaborative research, and for research commercialisation.

RIO has four functional areas:

  • Research Development

    The Research Development team focuses on developing and managing national and international competitive grants programs and offers support, advice and expertise at every stage of the process including developing tenders and applications.

  • Industry Engagement and Commercialisation

    The Industry Engagement and Commercialisation team manages the process of research commercialisation, and also focuses on developing the profile of UTS as a contract research organisation with industry and other clients.

    UniQuest at UTS

    UniQuest is UTS' commercial partner. UniQuest Managers of Innovation and Commercial Development (MICDs) are embedded within UTS faculties where their roles are to identify and develop innovative research from within UTS faculties.

  • Contracts Execution and Grants Management

    The Contracts Execution and Grants Management team oversees the whole lifecycle of research contracts with UTS, including grants management, IP, licensing and contract execution and management.

  • Planning and Operations

    The Planning and Operations team provides strategic and administrative support, including developing research policy, supporting research strengths and RQF needs, data collection reporting and support and management of human and animal ethics and biosafety committees.
