You are invited to attend a symposium with Professor Will Steffen, one of Australia's foremost Earth System scientists.

The global 'perfect storm' brewing in the 21st century can be captured in a single concept - Anthropocene - an existential crisis of our own making over which we have very little control.

From a foundation of complex systems thinking Professor Steffen will explore possible trajectories of the Earth System through the Anthropocene Transition and describe how Earth System Science can inform our responses.

Will Steffen, one of Australia's foremost Earth System scientists, has a long history in international global change research. His interests range widely with an increasing focus on the history and future of the relationship between humans and the rest of nature.

Discussion will be led by:

Prof. Cynthia Mitchell, Deputy Director, Institute for Sustainable Futures, UTS.

Prof. Christopher Wright, Sydney Environment Institute, University of Sydney.

A/Prof. Devleena Ghosh, UTS Social and Political Science

Prof. Peter Ralph, Executive Director, UTS Climate Cluster

Co-hosted by:
