Alternative cosmopolitanisms

Cosmopolitanism is often defined as an elitist globalist orientation. Yet cosmopolitanism is also embedded in social relations and in civil societies. There is a wide breadth of cosmopolitan engagement, both against and beyond conventional fields. Research in this area asks how are these alternative cosmopolitan dynamics manifested, how have they changed, and how may they develop?
