August 2016

UTS and Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) has recently signed research agreement to establish a joint research centre for mobile communications. The joint centre provides excelllent platform for researchers and students at both universities to collaborate and visit each other to further enhance the research leadership of both universities in the important areas of next generation mobile communication systems, green communications and vehicular networks.

July 2016

Four research programs have been established in CRIN to shapen its research focus: Intelligent Transport Systems Program (ITSP), led by Dr Xiaobo Qu; Security, Trust and Privacy Research Program (STPRP), led by Dr Priyadarsi Nanda; Wireless Embedded Networked Sensing and Localisation Program (WENSLP), led by A/Prof Kumbesan Sandrasegaran; and Advanced Networks Program (ANP), led by Prof Robin Braun.
Dr Xiaobo Qu joined CRIN in July 2016 and brings with him the much need expertise in intelligent transportation systems.
Prof Robin Braun has been awarded an innovation connections grant with Exablaze in the SDN area with a total of $230,000 over two years to build the fastest network switch in the world.

Professor Guoqiang Mao has won a grant from Huawei to support his research on 5G networks
Professor Robin Braun has won a reserach grant from SYSTEM BUILDER DEVELOPMENT PTY. LTD of $200,000 to support his research.

March 2015

Prof Guoqiang Mao was appointed into the Australian Research Council “Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA)” Research Evaluation Committee for “Engineering and Environmental Sciences” for ERA 2015. This prestigious appointment acknowledges and confirms the high-quality research of Prof Mao in his field and is a big success for both Prof Mao personally and the CRIN team.

January 2015

A team of 12 UTS researchers, led by CRIN researcher A/Prof Kumbesan Sandrasegaran, have won a grant entitled "Monitoring from a distance – meeting the needs of the water industry using remote sensing and smart monitoring" from Water Research Australia.
A group of CRIN researchers led by A/Prof Mehran Abolhasan have been successful in obtaining an Australian Research Council Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities grant.

June 2014

A forum co-hosted by CRIN has set up a platform for further collaborations between these top Chinese and Australian research organisations in the telecommunications area.
Associate Professor Mehran Abolhasan and Dr Daniel Franklin from CRIN have contributed to the success of ICC 2014 as the Conference Operations Chair and the Local Arrangements and Web Chair respectively.

Weekly CRIN research seminars for semester 1, 2014 will start from 27 February.
Associate Professor Mehran Abolhasan has won an exciting project entitled "Scalable Collaborative Mesh” from Intel.
Prof Guoqiang Mao has joined CRIN as Professor of Wireless Networking and Director of CRIN.
