Andrew completed a Bachelor of Computing (Computer Science) at Monash University in 1993. Since then he has worked in a variety of industries developing software applications. He was worked as developer on applications for accounting, inventory & supply chain management, property management and recruitment. Moving in to team lead and architecting roles, he has worked on applications for telecommunications, billing systems, customer relationship management and content management. More recently, Andrew worked as a Program Manager on the Internet Explorer team at Microsoft before returning to UTS to complete his PhD.
Contextualising Web-based Information:
Andrew's research as a PhD candidate is concerned with how information contextualisation can be applied to large hypermedia systems such as the World-Wide Web. His interest in this field came out of his strong interest in, and knowledge of, Hypermedia and the World-Wide Web. In pursuing this research he has developed interests in Web Ontology, Technology Evaluation, Information-Seeking Behaviours, Personal Information Management, Information Retrieval and User Interface Design.
Aligning Web System and Organisational Models:
In his role as a Senior Research Assistant, Andrew is part of a team investigating processes and tools that support the development of web-based systems. This project is currently looking at how issues around aligning system models with organisation models can be leveraged to assist developers and managers identify potential problems with a new system before it is developed or deployed. His research interests in this project include Software Development Lifecycle, Software Development Process Models, Web-System Modelling, Process Modelling and Requirements Analysis.
