“Integrating the welfare of wild animals into conservation practice”

Research activities in the Centre for Compassionate Conservation cover diverse fields. Core research in wildlife conservation and animal welfare is complemented with research areas including environmental and animal law, ethics, economics, decision theory, corporate social responsibility, development planning, and the social sciences.

The Centre focuses on research projects that fill gaps in knowledge and have a practical focus on improving welfare outcomes for wildlife. Our research is geared to captive and wild animals that are facing pressures from commercial exploitation, human-wildlife conflicts, land clearance, and habitat loss.
