Value Based Trading System: Image Analysis of Sheep and Beef Carcasses - Proof of Concept
The purpose of the project is to establish a proof of concept for estimating lean meat yield from carcasses (beef and sheep) from RGBD data and develop an automated prototype system for 3D image capture of live cattle and carcasses.
This project will evaluate the potential of RGBD camera to take 3D images of beef carcasses and develop a preliminary relationship between the data captured and lean meat yield in beef. Secondly, an analysis of data from the MLA project B.BSC.0339 will be completed to develop a preliminary relationship between live animal assessment and Retail Beef Yield (RBY). Lastly, this project will develop and assess the relationship between parameters derived from images constructed by the RGB data and measurements of total fat and lean obtained from the CT scanning of primal portions.
