Defamation Law

This workshop can be delivered in-house or at UTS and tailored to suit needs.

Participants will learn what they can do to reduce the risk of being sued for what they write, broadcast or release. The recent changes to defamation law, 'what is defamatory' and the 'defence against defamation' are covered in the workshop. The workshop is developed and delivered by a lawyer who specialises in media law and has broad experience in the arts and business administration fields.

Presenter

The course presenter is Anna Ward, a lawyer at the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) specialising in Content and Rights. Anna has taught defamation law to Choice (formerly Australian Consumer Association), Yahoo7 and Fairfax media staff for the ACIJ since 2006. Anna had also taught Marketing Law for the University of Sydney.
