Research degrees at UTS


The University has a number of research scholarships and funding schemes available for to domestic and international applicants each year. Applications are made directly to the UTS Graduate Research School and are scored and ranked by each of the faculties. Closing dates will vary depending on the type of scholarship or funding scheme.

Newly commencing research students should complete an Application for Admission to a Higher Degree by Research and Scholarship by the advertised deadline. Please be aware that applications for scholarships are only open once a year.

Commencing students can apply for special consideration for a postgraduate research scholarship on the basis of special needs. Please download and attach the special consideration for scholarship (PDF, 80kb) and attach it with your course application form.

Scholarship Ranking Systems

Each Faculty/Institute scores and ranks applications to decide their nominations for a research scholarship award. The ranking schemes are approved by the Graduate Research School Board and vary from faculty to faculty.
